Dear Senator Nozzolio and Assemblywoman Lifton,
I am urging you to fully restore the GEA for the 2015-2016 school year.
Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner and Senator Patrick Gallivan introduced
bi-partisan legislation in their respective houses that will fully end
the Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA) for 2015-16 and thereafter. The
respective bill numbers are A.2271 and S.2743. Both Assemblywoman
Woerner and Senator Gallivan are seeking co-sponsors of their bills from
both sides of the aisle. Therefore I am contacting you to strongly urge
that you sign on as a co-sponsor of the bill in your House. Lansing
Central School District has done its due diligence by reducing our
budget, consolidating our services, and increasing our tax rate. Our
school district has been impacted by the GEA and loss of tax revenue
from our tax base. Our local power plant has decreased in value by
$100,000,000 in the last 5 years. Please stand up for Lansing before
it’s too late. We ask that you represent our community!
